Irv left Wine Warehouse in March of 2015 and started Seize the Vine. He brings his unending PASSION, motivation, excitement and previous successes to build a first-rate wine brokerage network. Irv’s expertise with on-off premise sales, marketing, account development, pricing, and a proven record for building a strong rapport with suppliers and customers benefits his boutique brands.
In January 1978, with a M.B.A. from Pepperdine University, Irv gave up a tenured teaching position of 12 years to pursue his passion for wine as a full-time career. He began his wine career in sales working for a small California distributor with just a few sales people. He took a company with fewer than 50 wines in the portfolio to one of the leading names in the California wine industry. By the time Irv became Senior Vice President of sales he had more than 130 well trained sales professionals working for him and more than 8,000 wines in the company’s portfolio. More importantly, he fostered long-lasting relationships with his customers.
His talent for cultivating high-performance teams, building new business, fostering long lasting relationships with customers and wineries, and creating an environment where employees consistently excel, has made him a leader in the wine industry for 38 years. In 2002 Irv was the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award in the wine industry.
